2 guys, 1 penny, 1 dream.
We are at the final week and overall we are satisfied with how it went. We did not get any more trades so in the end we finished with an Xbox 1. At the start of this project we were lost and did not know what to base our project off of. We have lots of things in common and we are good friends but we were just stuck. Out of nowhere the idea of trading a penny popped in mind. We both had seen things like this before so we agreed to do it and we were not mad about it. Our starting value was $0.01 and the ending value was approximately $120.00. Overall, we both agree we were very successful over the 12 weeks.

The 2nd to last week comes up and we are making great progress. As of last week, we had an Xbox 360. That was quickly traded with an Xbox 1 which is still just an Xbox but newer and better in value. The methods we used to do this were the same we had been using. Once we receive a trade we post in both of our snap chat stories once or twice depending on how successful it is. This has worked the best out of all the ways so far and we will continue to use this method. Our value jumped from around $80 to approximately $130. Before week 12 ends, we would like to try to get 1-2 more trades.
Week 10 comes around and we finally got rid of the echo dot. Our method to post on face book was a shot in the dark and it didn't really do much. We got an offer for a giant stuffed animal but we were also offered an Xbox 360 and we decided to take that. An Xbox 360 used is in the range of $40-110. Were gonna split the middle and say the value is $70. This is a good jump and definiteley a jump in our progress.
Week 8 starts off pretty weak. So far we have a trade proposal for a play station 3, but we are going to a return warehouse after school today and hopefully we will walk out with something good. Our plan is to tell them about the project, present what we have and hopefully increase the profit by $5 or more. I also made a Facebook post so hopefully my Grandparents, relatives or friends of whoever sees it and throws some offers towards our direction. We will keep you posted.
Week 8 is coming around and this post is a little late due to a school event, but the echo dot is not as popular as we thought it would be. I think Jackson and i are in the wrong target market. So we are gonna try Facebook. i hope Facebook is successful cause we need some change. We will keep you updated as we continue.
Week 6 started just before spring break and the unthinkable happened. We got an amazon echo dot. Basically what happened is, i told the JV baseball coach about my project and asked him if he had any trades and he said he didn't have anything on him but he would bring something the next day and sure enough he did. He said he doesn't use it and someone gave it to him so he gave it to me. Our value has gone from about $7 to $40 so this week was very succesful.
Going into week 5 at our lowest point. Jackson and I have advertised and we still are not getting many results. Being a baseball player with a baseball to trade, you'd think it would be pretty easy. I have asked my snap chat, the JV team, teachers and still nothing. The bit of hope i have is, I asked Coach thalasinos if he had anything to trade and he said he was going to go home and check and get back to me. We are going to get rid of this baseball by next week. We are set and determined to do it and we know we will.
Coming into week 4 with one of our worst weeks. We were unsuccessful with any trades since we last got the baseball. What we can do differently is advertise it more. We need to start reaching out to people instead of expecting people to reach out to us. Also, starting hopefully today we are going to go to businesses and ask if they have anything they would want to trade. A baseball is an object that would have to fit the right person. We are going to go to advance liquidators, which is a return warehouse for places like Amazon and Walmart. We also are going to try Goodwill. Hopefully we will have success moving into week 5.
We are now in week 3 and unfortunately, it has slowed down but we have still made good progress. We traded yellow sunglasses for a brand new baseball. The ball is a Wilson A1010 American Legion edition and the value is about $8. Being a baseball player, brand new baseballs especially Wilson. We have been using the same technique, social media and peers. I have a custom snap chat story that is used just for trading. We are still making good progress and we are happy with what we've got and excited for what we get!
Week 2 just started and it is already going great! Today we started our trading and we figured our voices weren't enough so we decided to do some promoting via snap chat and it definitely helped. Our first trade was from a penny to a pink pen, from that pink pen we got a composition notebook that is in very good condition. We had a contact saying that they would trade a brand new baseball still in the wrapper for our notebook, so we will hopefully pick that up from them soon. We are excited to continue our journey of trading and we will check in with you next week!
